Who is Jeanette van Dijk

I have worked as a forensic accountant and court advisor for more than fifteen years when I developed MS and my whole life drastically changed. In the summer of 2022, I started writing the political fiction novel Curlingkinderen (Coddled Children), capturing my observations on the West’s decline and its transformation into a totalitarian society in which the right opinion matters more than being right.

This Substack explores the deeper themes behind the book. Short, sharp essays that challenge conventional thinking and reframe today’s most pressing issues.

What happens to freedom in a world obsessed with equality? How do good intentions spiral out of control when competence is cast aside? Why do process-driven thinkers so often fail to deliver real solutions? And is Europe on the brink of collapse, or have we already passed the point of no return?

The Dutch edition was published on May 22, 2024, and the English translation is a work in progress. As I translate, I will regularly share short excerpts, explaining the reasoning behind them and why it’s so important to understand that we should not give up our freedom so easily.

In March 2024, I traveled to Mexico to halt my MS and reclaim control over my life and my freedom. I challenge everyone to do the same.
